The second responsibility after trust according to Ed Young, "do not lean". Hey, don't lean, the Bible says, "on your own understanding". The word "understanding" here in the Hebrew refers to human understanding. My own human understanding. This word "lean" refers to being on crutches. Instead of turning to God first, what do most people do? They lean on their own understanding. They consult the armchair experts, or maybe a glassy-eyed guru and you can see where that gets you. Look at Waco, Texas and the tragedy there. On your own understanding. How many of you have ever been on crutches before? It's not very comfortable, is it?
Your underarm's raw and your hands get all tired. Let me give you some advice, do you want to spend an exhausting day? Here's how to spend an exhausting day. Rely on your own understanding. That's right. When situations come your way, rely on your own understanding and you'll be totally exhausted. This verse is not saying that we take intellect and cast it to the wind. It's not saying we do not use our reasoning power. It's saying that when we come across any interchange, we're first of all to look to God because God has made and orchestrated His creation to be dependent on Him and if we don't rely on Him, go back to the chair - we're right here. "Oh yes, God, I'm trusting you". Lean on God, like the drama. You saw them lean on God. Don't lean on your own understanding, our second responsibility in the contract.

The Full Armor of the Lord Jesus Christ
Ed Young says that some churches are driven by tradition. We have always done it that way. Other churches are driven by finances. How much will it cost. Other churches are driven by program. Let's just wear the saints out. We want to be a purpose-driven church. Jesus said these words: "I will build my church." Matthew 16:18. The tone indicates He had a purpose. Look at I Corinthians 1:10. The Apostle Paul said this about the church. "Let there be real harmony so that there won't be any splits in the church." You know what.
The Fellowship of Las Colinas is the happiest, most positive church I have ever seen in my life. And I ask myself why. Ed Young Jr. asks you know why? Let's read on. "Be of one mind, united in thought and purpose." We know where we are going. We have a purpose. We are a lazar age church with a laser type focus. Light concentrated is a laser and a laser is powerful. We are a purpose driven church, a laser focused church. We are also united. The word harmony there. If we are all rowing the boat toward one purpose we don't have time to stand up and rock the boat. Ed Young Pastor tells us that the Bible says concentrate on things that bring harmony and unity. Uncompromising. Circle the word purpose in I Corinthians 1:10. Our purpose statement is bound up in one sentence.
Ed Young Fellowship informs that the Fellowship of Las Colinas exists to reach up, that is worship expressing love to God, we also exist to reach out, that is evangelism, sharing the good news, inviting the unchurched to attend, we also exist to reach in, that is discipleship, that is becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, that is moving from a baby Christian into a spiritually mature Christian, that is taking off the pampers and putting on the full armor of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ed Young Church states that we are a purpose driven church. Very important. And we funnel and we filter every one of our programs and ministries through the vision and through our purpose statement.
